Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has named the Mexico game against La Albiceleste during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as the most difficult match he has played for his country.
Messi led Argentina to beat Mexico 2-0 in the World Cup Group B encounter as they sealed their place in the round of 16.
Prior to the Mexico game, Argentina had lost 2-1 in their opening group tie against Saudi Arabia.
But Messi doesn’t think his side’s defeat against Saudi Arabia was Argentina’s most difficult game at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward told La Nacion: “The match with Mexico was the most difficult and the one we played the worst for all that it entailed having to win yes or yes.”
