Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has claimed that they beat Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Robert Lewandowski.
Despite the Catalan’s dire financial state, they were able to complete the signing of the 33-year-old from Bayern Munich.
Barca will pay €45million with a possible €5m in add-ons for Lewandowski.
Laporta has now said they are looking to sign a defender next to bolster their squad.
He said: “After the Lewandowski deal, we are now looking at strengthening the defense.
“We competed with PSG and Chelsea for Lewandowski and he wanted to come to us, we must thank him because he gets less money from us.”
