Former Barcelona and Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez has revealed he has reached “a preliminary agreement” to return to his first club, Nacional.
Suarez is a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid ran out in June.
The 35-year-old will now join up with Nacional, as he prepares to play at his fourth World Cup in Qatar later this year.
“First of all I would like to say thank you for the great affection shown to me and my family these last few days,” Suarez said in a video posted on his social media accounts.
According to the Uruguay star, this had made it impossible “to reject the possibility of returning to play for Nacional and we have a preliminary agreement with the club.”
Nacional president, Jose Fuentes, also sent his appreciation to fans who had launched a massive social media campaign in a bid to convince Suarez to return.
