Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has left Cristiano Ronaldo out of his squad for their pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

The rest of the squad has flown to Oslo, Norway where the match will be played.

New boys Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, are among the 21 players Ten Hag has taken for the game.

“Some of those absent from the squad will take part in Sunday’s game against Rayo Vallecano, while others are ill or injured,” a statement on United’s website read.

Ten Hag’s decision comes amid Ronaldo’s desire to leave United this summer.

The 37-year-old is desperate to ditch the Red Devils for a club competing in the Champions League.
