Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has hit out at Arsenal left-back, Kieran Tierney, insisting that he is becoming a problem for the Gunners due to his injury.

Tierney, who suffered a knock during Arsenal’s pre-season, recovered just in time to make the squad for their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace last Friday.

The Scottish defender, however, had to settle for a place on the bench against Crystal Palace, eventually coming on in the 83rd minute.

The 25-year-old has had quite a few fitness concerns since arriving at the North London club in the summer of 2019.

Tierney has just entered his fourth season with the Emirates club, having made just 64 Premier League appearances out of a potential 114 in his first three campaigns.

However, Carragher believes Tierney’s repeated injury issues will be a concern for Arsenal, adding that Mikel Arteta’s side needs to strengthen at the left-back position.

“Arsenal needed to strengthen at left-back because Tierney’s injuries now are becoming a problem for him and for the team,” Carragher said (as quoted by HITC).
